SoapBox Training Trust is a registered centre for the delivery of the full course through the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and has a tutor who is available to deliver these qualifications.
The Foundation Food Safety Certificate is required to be held by all those who are involved in the preparation, serving and selling of food in both paid and voluntary capacities. This is also relevant for those who take young people on residential weekends including camping holidays.
All those employed in the food trade are required to hold this qualification which it is recommended should be renewed every three years. Many youth and church organisations need to ensure that those working for them have a valid certificate.
A power point presentation together with interactive group working contribute to the theoretical part of the course, which lasts for 6 hours and ends with the multiple choice question paper.
The cost is £21 per person for the course, which includes the course materials and examination.
If there is a group of 12 people then the tutor will travel to a suitable destination where the course can be delivered. A contribution towards the tutor's travelling expenses is appreciated. Individuals can join courses that have been arranged by the tutor with other groups.
Those who need to renew their certificate can take a 1 hour Retraining and updating course followed by a test paper. This costs £16 and the previous certificate is required.
